Eligibility / Requirements

The CSEM Fellowship requires a Certificate of Complete Training (CCT), which is obtained by successfully completing a higher specialty training programme in SEM that includes an exam. It also requires medical practitioners to be registered with the GMC (General Medical Council).

Obtaining your CCT requires high-level specialist training and a SEM speciality exam. For more information, please go to the Training Pathway

To join the General Medical Council register, medical practitioners must complete their specialist training and obtain the Certificate of Complete Training. Please see Training Pathway for more details.

Other Fellowship Types

In addition to Fellowship by CCT, there are several other options of Fellowship that may apply to other eligible members.

Fellowship (by Election) is awarded via election to a small number of individuals who demonstrate exceptional contributions to SEM, as assessed by the Standards and Membership Committee.

Fellows nominated by election will receive the same benefits listed as Fellows (by CCT).

However, while they can participate in College governance, including voting rights and eligibility for Council and leadership roles, council eligibility will be retained from the previous membership category (e.g. if you were a Diplomate before becoming an Elected Fellow, you would retain voting rights as a Diplomate; and/or be eligible to sit on Council as a Diplomate).

Overseas Fellowship is awarded to fully qualified Fellows who reside overseas. Overseas Fellows retain all benefits as UK-based benefits, excluding the print journals as an optional extra.

Eligibility / Requirements

  • Fully qualified Fellow
To become a fully qualified Fellow, a member must have been awarded a Certificate of Complete Training (CCT) in SEM and registered on a local GMC in a non-UK address.
  • Reside Overseas
Currently a Health professional in a related SEM field who resides overseas.

*LMIC discounts are reduced rates offered to individuals based in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (as classified by the World Bank). The discount will be determined by the country in which the member is residing

Retired Fellowship is awarded to fully qualified Fellows who are fully retired. Standard benefits for retired Fellows are the same as those for Overseas Fellows. However, please note that as a retired Fellow, you will not be eligible to sit on the council.

We offer discounted rates:  £137.50 Annual Fee or £11.46 Monthly Fee.
